OUR PROCESS

Thank you for considering Vintage Millwork to design, build and install your custom made furniture or cabinetry. We utilizes a simple 6-Step Process to streamline our relationship from initial consultation to final installation. Listed below is a brief explanation of each step in the process for planning, designing, building and installing your project. Our 6-Step Process helps guarantee we deliver beautifully timeless products again and again.

OUR 6-STEP PROCESS

1. INITIAL CONSULTATION

At our first meeting, we will meet with you, at no charge, to determine the size and scope of your project, your budget and visit the proposed installation site (if a remodel). This is a no-obligation consultation to determine if Vintage Millwork is the right fit for you.

2. PROJECT ESTIMATE

After the initial consultation, Vintage Millwork will provide you with an estimated cost of your project. This estimate is not a legally binding contract, but may be used by you to assist in selecting a custom millwork contractor and to determine whether the scope of the project is within your budget. Depending upon the project, rough sketches may be produced at the time the estimate is discussed.

3. PRODUCT DESIGN

After the first two steps, if you desire Vintage Millwork to begin formal drawings, a non-refundable drafting fee will be required. We will expend considerable time and effort on these drawings, even before there is a signed proposal. The amount of the drafting fee will be discussed with you, but will be commensurate with the size and scope of your project. If Vintage Millwork is hired to complete your project, and a proposal is accepted and signed, then the entire drafting fee will be deducted from the final cost of your project. The drawings shall remain in the possession of Vintage Millwork until the drafting fee has been paid.

4. PROPOSAL & RETAINER

Our jobs usually start on a first-come, first-serve basis. Typically, Vintage Millwork has a lengthy lead-time for our services due to demand and the time-consuming process of designing and building custom cabinetry and furniture. In order to secure a starting date for your project, you will be required to pay a non-refundable retainer fee at the time of signing your proposal and acceptance agreement. The retainer will vary depending upon the size and scope of the project. The retainer will be fully applied to and deducted from the cost of your project. The proposal and acceptance agreement will be fully reviewed with you and details, in writing, the scope, cost and payment schedule of your project and will become a binding contract upon signing.

5. PROJECT BUILD

After the proposal is signed, further drawings will be produced, as necessary, to conform to actual on-site measurements and to account for any appliances selected by you for your kitchen (for kitchen projects). Wood materials and hardware will then be ordered, followed by the cutting, fabrication, sanding and completion of construction of your cabinets or furniture. You will be billed for the costs involved as certain stages of the project are completed, as set forth in your contract.

6. PRODUCT INSTALLATION

Your cabinets or furniture will be installed after they are constructed. Adjustments may be necessitated by actual conditions on the site. You will be asked to approve your completed project within 24 hours after installation. After your approval, you will be billed for the remaining cost of the project.
